You must have heard “sleep is an escape from the real world”. Sleep is something that refreshes your mind, body and soul. Sleep helps your body to take rest not only from a particular activity but also helps your mind to take rest from unnecessary thoughts that take place in your mind the whole day.

Healthy sleeping habits can have a significant impact on your lifestyle. Good sleep hygiene is defined as having healthy sleeping patterns. Sleep has an impact on nearly every organ and system in the body, including the brain, heart, and lungs, as well as metabolism, immunological function, and mood. Most individuals should sleep 7 to 9 hours per night, which will provide ample time for the body to enter deeper stages of sleep. If your sleep schedule is less than 7-9 hours you should follow the following ways to improve your sleep pattern:


1. Do not consume caffeine or tea in any form:

It is said that if you consume tea or coffee in any form 2-3 hours before your sleep time, it affects your sleep as caffeine is a stimulant that increases alertness. "Stimulants" are the term for these medications. Caffeine is indeed an "adenosine receptor antagonist," which means it inhibits adenosine receptor activity. Adenosine is a substance in your body that promotes sleep. Caffeine keeps you awake by inhibiting the adenosine receptor.


2. Avoid irregular long day naps:

While short power naps are useful, napping for long periods of time or on an irregular basis during the day might have a negative impact on your sleep. Sleeping during the day might affect your body's schedule, making it difficult to sleep at night. You shouldn't be concerned if you take regular afternoon naps and get enough sleep.


3. Don’t go hungry to bed:

Going hungry to bed can affect your sleep as it might create discomfort and a little dizziness in your head. When you have a stuffed stomach it can also affect your sleep because it creates heaviness in your body.


4. Create a peaceful environment:

When you try to sleep in full light it affects your sleep because you cannot close your eyes in calmness. When you sleep in dim light or no light it helps and creates a peaceful environment in your head that results in a peaceful sleep.


5. Keep a track of what you watch or read before you sleep:

The things that you watch or read before you sleep are always running in your head. Watching something that is not good for your mind creates a big impact on your sleep as if you watch horror movie before sleeping it affects you as the horror things run into your mind the whole night. Therefore, it is always advised to watch good things or read good books or listen to peaceful songs before you sleep.

6. Manage your thoughts and worries:

Before going to sleep at night you should manage your thoughts and keep your worries aside. Whether your worries are related to work or any other topic it is important to keep them away from your mind before you go to sleep to get a peaceful and relaxing sleep.

7. Involve exercise in your day:

Involving exercises like yoga and meditation in your daily activity helps your body and soul feel better which helps in improving your sleep schedule.

Having a peaceful sleep is important for physical as well as mental health. Because a peaceful sleep results in a good start for the next day and also helps you deal with things with more focus. Not only this, but your day also goes well and happy after you have a great sleep and your face feels refreshed and glowing.
